JSON Viewer

Effective October 15, 2026 · Extension version 1.1.0

The publisher does not collect, sell, or receive your extension data. Processing takes place in your browser or on your device.

01 / Purpose

What this extension does

Automatically formats and syntax-highlights raw JSON and JSONP responses in the browser with collapsible tree navigation and search.

This policy applies to the JSON Viewer Manifest V3 extension distributed by the Modulus Tools publisher.

02 / Data handling

Information used by the extension

JSON Viewer reads JSON and JSONP content already loaded in your browser to format it and provide tree navigation and search. JSON can include personal or sensitive information; processing happens within your browser.

The extension has no publisher-operated account system, advertising tracker, analytics SDK, or remote analytics endpoint. We do not use extension data to profile you or sell it to advertisers.

03 / Local storage

What stays on your device

Theme and tree-depth preferences are saved using chrome.storage.local. JSON or path expressions are written to your system clipboard only when you use a copy action.

How long it is kept

Preferences remain until changed or the extension is removed. Your operating system controls clipboard retention. JSON documents are not uploaded to the publisher.

04 / Permissions

Access, with a purpose

Browser permissions support the extension’s stated features. Here is why each declared permission is needed.

storage
Locally saves your syntax theme and default tree expansion depth.
clipboardWrite
Copies formatted JSON or path expressions when requested.
Host access — all websites
Detects JSON and JSONP responses across domains and development endpoints.
05 / Third parties

Network requests and data sharing

The extension formats responses from the endpoints you visit. It does not send the JSON content to a formatting service, analytics service, or publisher server.

We do not sell or share extension user data with advertising, data brokerage, or analytics providers. Extension data is used only for the disclosed features, in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

06 / Your choices

You are in control

You can change available preferences through the extension’s popup or options page and manage site access in Chrome’s extension settings. Removing the extension removes its extension storage; files you downloaded, bookmarks you created, and your system clipboard are managed separately by you and your browser or operating system.

Local extension storage is not a secure vault. Avoid copying or retaining sensitive information on a shared device. If this policy changes, we will update the effective date on this page and disclose material changes to data practices as required.

07 / Contact

Questions about your privacy?

Contact Modulus Tools at support@modulustools.com. If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include so we can respond. This correspondence is separate from the extension’s local data processing. Do not send passwords, private recordings, or sensitive browsing content.
